the text in this reading and speaking section is in the form of a magazine article about charles, the first son of queen elizabeth ii. it profiles both his working and personal life and also gives an insight into his character. the exploitation of the article includes prediction work, detailed comprehension, vocabulary work on adjectives of character, and a discussion stage.
学情分析
the lexical range in the text is challenging, so the teacher should pre-teach some new words before reading and students will be able to guess some of them from context. the general idea is not hard to understand. they are willing to work with others and express their thoughts in class. sometimes, they can help each other in the learning process. one group needs to be monitored more often by the teacher.
教学目标
by the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1.understand the life of a hard-working future king.
2.express their idea and think critically about the royal after reading.
3.give an insight to one’s character and assess things or person from different perspectives.
