HOW ELEARNING CHANGE THE CLASSROOM is an interesting topic for instructor as well as eLearning developer. It might easily think that eLearning will replace classroom training. In reality, it will not happen. Instead, classroom training will co-exist with eLearning in new roles as following.

    • Synergy Effect

With wider elearning implementation, the role of classroom training will be changed. There will be less classroom training but they become more important. There are still some areas that classroom can provide more appropriate training such as group interaction, business problem solving, performance evaluation, expert observation, culture building, and teamwork.
We do believe there is synergy effect if both training delivery media can be used together in creative way. For example, elearning can be used as either pre-course or post-course learning. In addition, trainer can also retrieve elearning materials during classroom training.

    • More Facilitating

As classroom learning focuses on new direction such as applying concept and generating new ideas, the role of the instructor will change from the all-knowing "sage on the stage" to more of a "guide on the side".
In addition to the Instructor/Facilitator, knowledge nowadays can come from different sources like:
            1.Corporate Intranet
            2. Knowledge Community (Learner themselves)
            3.Outside Expert

    • Student Handbook

With content changing all the time, the standard "student guides" will not be updated for use. Instead, it will be a trend that put them on the web for easy update.
Or it may still have to deliver hard copy of "student guides" together with web-accessed material. In all, there will be more reliance on original source materials.
In elearning environment, a lot of recent information can be accessed via Internet.
