课程简介

AC200 is designed for students who will take BA/BSC accounting major or minor degree at a UK university. It is built up on basical financial accounting principles, and aims at further exploring how accounting information could be applied to business decision-making in different scenarios. Some typical business decisions are explained in this course, including: relevant-costs decisions, costs-pricing decisions, capital investment decisions, performance appraisal decision etc. As a bridge between management and accounting, this course requires students to deal with accounting related issues from the management's  decision-making perspective, which makes this course distinct from Financial Accounting. During the course, students are expected not only to solve technical problems with analytical tools, but know how to carry out rational discussions by referring to knowledge learnt. Some widely-used management accounting tools, such as: Time value of money analysis (NPV; IRR); Target-costing; Budgeting; Standard-cost & variances analysis, Balanced Scorecard-BSC, Economic Added Value (EVA) etc. are introduced in this course.
