Analysis of grammatical choice
Ⅰ.Teaching material
The teaching material in this lesson is form the exam paper, the exercise book and two passages of the senior high school entrance examination. With the time limited, this lesson is designed to help students deal with the common grammar focuses in this kind of testing with the reading strategy of prediction.
Ⅱ.Students analysis
My Students come from Grade9. They have a poor level of competence in
English, especially grammar. They only get 7.6 points out of 15 in the testing of grammatical choice when taking the mid-term examination. The poorness leads to a lack of confidence and study interest. However, students in their ages are active and they are more willing to learn in groups.
Ⅲ.Learning Objectives
By the end of this class, students will be able to:
1. Language Knowledge
(1) Understand the grammar in the exam paper.
(2) Get familiar with the grammar focuses of grammatical choice.
2. Language Skills
(1) Make use of some reading skills, like predicting the grammar focus while reading, to complete a test of grammatical choice.
(2) Improve reading comprehensive ability by the micro-class learning.
3. Affect
(1) Learn by themselves with the help of micro class.
(2) Learn in group to solve the test of grammatical choice.
(3) Be more confidence when dealing with grammar.

Purposes
1.
Lead-in (5min)
Play a game typhoon to lead in some common testing focuses of grammatical choice.
Discuss with their group member to get the right answers.
Make use of games to motivate students learning interest and draw their attention to the grammar focuses.
2. Brainstorming (5min)
Guide students to conclude what we should pay attention to when doing the test of grammatical choice.
Pay attention to the usage of verb, noun etc. If there are any questions, they can look up the micro videos to learn by themselves.
Prepare students with a grammatical fame to finish the testing later.

Analysis of the exam paper about grammatical choice (10min)
(1) Guide students to look at the tips of each item and do it again by predicting what kinds of grammar the questions focus on before reading. They can look up the micro videos if necessary.
(2) Ask students to check the answers by themselves.
(1) Finish the testing of grammatical choice again.
(2) Check the answers and find out the grammatical basis.
Guide students to predict the grammar focuses while doing the test.
3. Exercise1 (5min)
Guide students to do some relative exercise according to their previous mistakes.
Finish the exercise and look up the micro videos if necessary.
Remind them of the grammar focuses in the exam paper again.

Exercise 2 (15min)
Guide students to finish a test and then find out the grammar focuses in group.
(1) Finish the test and look up the micro videos if necessary.
(2) Find out the grammar focuses in group.
Consolidate the strategy of predicting.
5. Exercise 3-4 (10min)
Guide students to finish two test of senior high school entrance examination while baring the grammar frame in mind.
For those who have a higher lever, finish these two tests.
Make use of the reading strategy to finish the test by themselves.

- Finish the test of grammatical choice on page 147 of the exercise book.
- For those who haven’t finished the tests on Moodle, do it and check by themselves.
