Task1 Act and guess

There is a group of children. They had a special weekend. What did they do?

Tips：Act out the phrases in Part A (e.g. get a haircut), If the answer is right, stick the phrase onto the blackboard. Read the phrases with the class.

Task2 Who stole the cookies?

Mr. Li: Little Holmes, my cookies were missing. Can you help me find them?

Little Holmes: Yes, of course. Let me ask some suspects first.

Tips: Tell Little Holmes what you did last Sunday. You can act with your partners.

Holmes: You all are the suspects. What did you do last Sunday?

S1: I got a haircut at the hair salon last Sunday.

Then  an inter-action between Little Holmes and the pupils from other groups.

Little Holmes: What did Cindy do last Sunday?

Task3 Telephone investigations

Little Holmes: Miss Chen, everyone was out last Sunday.  There are 24 hours per day. Please tell me the time. What time did you lose the cookies?

Mr. Li:  Mmm…  At about 1:00-2:00 p.m. last Sunday.

Little Holmes: OK. I will ask my assistant, Little Watson, to make the calls.

Little Holmes: (making a call to Watson) Hello, is that Watson speaking?

Watson: Speaking.

Little Holmes: Please call the suspects. Ask them what they were doing at 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. last Sunday afternoon.

Watson:OK.

Tips: (You can act according to B1) 1. Choose one to be Watson. Make some calls to every suspect. 2. Ask the class to listen carefully while watching the show. 3. Ask some of the pupils from other groups to stick the names onto the blackboard. Match the names with the time and the places.

Task4 Find a witness

Little Holmes: There are only 3 suspects now. I’ll go and find the witnesses.

Tips: Act as the suspects and the witnesses the hairdresser/the coach/the librarian.

Expression: Good morning. This is G… Please enjoy our show.

Little Holmes:: Excuse me, Sir/Madam. Can I ask you some questions? Did you see this lady (show him/her a picture) last Sunday afternoon?

The hairdresser/the coach/the librarian: Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t. She was/wasn’t  (do) ing at … last Sunday.

Then an inter-action between Little Holmes and the pupils from other groups.

Leader from Group 4: Did the hairdresser see Cindy? What was Cindy doing?

Task5 Find the thief

Little Holmes: Haha, I know who stole your cookies now, sir.

Mr. Li: Really? Who is the thief? Can you write a report to me?

Little Holmes: Sure!

Tips:1. Complete the report in groups.   2. Choose one group show the report. Group leaders should help the pupils who need help.
