    1 Review the words and phrases related to life in the countryside and life in the city.

    2 Read some comments on life in the countryside and life in the city.

    3 Hold a class debate on whether life in the countryside is better than life in the city.

    4 Write a report on the debate.

    Important points:

    Write a report on the debate.

    Difficult points:

    Present the class debate on whether life in the countryside is better than life in the city.

    Teaching aids:  A computer, a projector and papers.

    Question: If you have got a chance to choose a place you like to live in, which place will you choose? the city, the countryside, the forest, the desert, the sea or the moon? Then give one reason why the place attracts you.

     

      e.g. I’d like to live in a cave, because there is no pressure there.

     

    StepⅢ. Words and phrases Input.

    1. Think of some words or phrases that can describe life in the countryside.
    2. Translate some phrases about life in the countryside into English and add them to the word bank.
    3. Think of some words or phrases that can describe life in the city.
    4. Translate some phrases about life in the city into English and add them to the word bank.
    5. Read the phrases together and try to remember them.

     

    StepⅣ. Debate.

    1. Preparation for the debate.
      1. Divide Ss into two parts.
      2. Give each small group a passage to read.
      3. Pick out some points from the passage and list them on Ss’ learning sheets.
      4. Add more points to the list.
