introduction
IN GUILFORD'S STRUCTURE OF INTELLECT a person's intelligence is categorized by 150 different components. This article is designed to help you understand the Structure of Intellect and how it plays a part in the overall general theory of human intelligence.

Operations, Contents, and Products
Operations, contents, and products are the three groups that make up the Structure of Intellect. All 150 components are made up of one operation, content, and product.
There are 5 kinds of operations that are associated with the Structure of Intellect. They are: cognition, memory, divergent production, convergent production, and evaluation. One of the five operations make up 1/3 of every component.
There are 6 kinds of products that are associated with the Structure of Intellect. They are: units, classes, relations, systems, transformations, and implications. One of the six also makes up 1/3 of every component.
The final 1/3 of every component consists of one of five contents. They are visual auditory, symbolic, semantic, and behavioral.-
The Structure of Intellect Cube
The Structure of Intellect Cube was designed to give a better understanding of how each component is created. All 150 components can be found using a simple formula. The formula is described in a video that can be found by clicking the picture to the right with your mouse.
Each colored section of the cube makes up a different component of Guilford's Structure of Intellect. (Click the mouse with-in the image to watch a video about how the Structure of Intellect works.)

Example
The following example illustrates three closely related abilities that differ in terms of operation, content, and product. Evaluation of semantic units is measured by the ideational fluency test in which individuals are asked to make judgments about concepts. for example: "Which of the following objects best satisfies the criteria, hard and round: an iron, a button, a tennis ball or a light bulb? On the other hand, divergent production of semantic units would require a person to list all terms they can think of that are round and hard in a given period. (Tip.Psychology)
