Do you remember the funny sloth (树獭) called “Flash” in the movie Zootopia? He speaks and moves slowly. So, how true is that? What is a sloth like in real life? You don’t need to read the encyclopedia (百科全书) for the answer. A new show by the BBC, Planet Earth II, tells interesting and exciting life stories of animals.
Unlike other animal shows, Planet Earth II is more like a movie. You won’t hear the speaker say “here is a lion” or “there is a sloth”. Instead, the show gets close to animals and tells their stories. In one story, for example, a baby iguana (鬣蜥) is going back home from the beach (海滩). A snake (蛇) goes after it. The iguana tries its best to run away. But then suddenly more than 10 snakes show up! It’s almost like a horror film (恐怖电影).

Planet Earth was a popular BBC show in 2006. It won 34 world-class awards (奖项), including four Emmy Awards. More than half a billion people watched it. Now there is a new show called Planet Earth II. The BBC put lots of hard work into this new show. The whole team of the show made 117 trips across 40 countries and regions (地区). They spent over three years shooting it. For example, they spent five months in Botswana to see lions hunting (捕杀) buffalo. In the end, the team chose the best parts of their videos and made six one-hour shows.
